Winter is finally behind us and as the warmer weather starts it is a great time to concentrate on the health of your feet. If you have pain when walking, Dr. Barrett will use his expertise to give you an accurate diagnosis of your issues and help manage and relieve your pain.

Our clinicians are experts in the diagnosis and management of all kinds of foot pain.

Here are some common conditions that Dr Barrett and Dr Freidson treat on a regular basis:

  • Plantar fasciitis (pain on bottom of the heel)
  • Bunions (deformities of the big toe)
  • Repeat ankle sprains
  • Anterior tibialis Tendinopathy (pain on the top/inside of foot)
  • Posterior tibialis Tendinopathy (pain on inside of ankle)
  • Neuropathic pain (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Sesamoiditis and metatarsalgia (painful inflammation of bones under the toes)
  • Peroneal tendinopathy (pain on outside of ankle)

The first step in solving your foot issues is getting the correct diagnosis. Once we have determined your issues, an appropriate and effective manual therapy and/or chiropractic treatments, exercises, and pain management options that will assist in recovery and reduce or eliminate your pain.

These effective treatments can include:

  • Lifestyle modifications to reduce the impact of your daily activities on your foot pain
  • Exercises including stretching and strengthening exercises specific to your condition
  • Graded joint manipulation and manual therapy to restore normal biomechanics
  • Heat to relax sore musculature
  • Laser treatments to reduce inflammation and accelerate healing
  • Electrical stimulation to reduce pain and stiffness
  • A variety of orthotic options exist to restore normal biomechanics including but not limited to:
    • Toe spacers to align toes
    • Heel cups to cushion your stride
    • Custom fitted orthotic inserts and sandals measured and fitted for your specific foot dysfunction. (Note: many insurance plans will cover one pair of custom orthotics per year)
  • Iontophoresis of anti-inflammatory pain medications for recalcitrant cases

During your first appointment with Dr. Barrett or Dr. Freidson, you can expect a thorough history, exam and treatment which will usually last 30-45 minutes. Subsequent appointments are 15-30 minutes depending on the needs of the patient. For patients with very complicated cases, both doctors are connected to a wide referral network. We accepts most types of insurance including Medicare, auto, work, and personal injury cases.

About Dr. Taran Barrett

Dr. Barrett DC, IFMCP is a chiropractor at Life Medical in St. Louis Park. Taran grew up in rural Canada, competing and coaching gymnastics at a national level prior to receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Winnipeg. He then moved to Minneapolis to attend Northwestern Health Sciences in Bloomington where he graduated summa cum laude as valedictorian of his Chiropractic class. About Dr. David Freidson

Dr. Freidson has been a chiropractor for almost two decades. He began his education at the University of Wisconsin Madison, obtaining a B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science in 2002. In 2005 Dr. Freidson obtained his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University. He worked as a personal trainer while finishing his bachelor's degree and while attending chiropractic school. David obtained the highest level of personal training, which is the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
