Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

service-PhysicalTherapyWEB-480x352Our Physical Therapy Department provides comprehensive treatment utilizing a number of traditional and innovative modalities.

Treatment for Acute and Long-Term Conditions

Our highly skilled physical therapists treat both acute conditions, such as muscle injuries and accidents, as well as chronic, long-term muscle and joint pain with results that delight our patients.

Many patients who thought they would suffer in pain have achieved completely pain-free recovery and increased range of motion they never thought possible.

We have combined the best practices of Eastern and Western medicine to deliver world-class treatment, often helping people to avoid invasive surgeries.

Our treatment modalities are time-tested and approved by our medical doctors. Click on any of the treatments listed below to learn more.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy utilizes high-energy, very-high frequency sound waves (well above the range of human hearing) to help ease painful joints and muscles. The hand-held ultrasound applicator focuses ultrasound waves in to the affected joints and muscles. The treatment is completely painless and free of side effects.

Phonophoresis

This process uses high frequency, low intensity ultra-sound waves to enhance the delivery of medications through the skin, to enhance the absorption of topically applied analgesics and anti-inflammatory agents.

Iontophoresis

This process introduces anti-inflammatory medication through the skin via a mild electrical current. It is a safe and effective alternative to injections, oral medications, and trans-dermal gels or patches. It is also a relatively painless option for patients who may be opposed to injections. It minimizes potential tissue trauma from injections, and also has few side effects.

Infratonic

This therapy utilizes low frequency acoustical vibrations to help relieve pain or spasms. Powerful ultra-low frequency sound waves (below the range of human hearing) increase micro-circulation, reduce swelling, relieve chronic pain, and promote healing. Tests in hospitals and research laboratories have found that ultra-low frequency sound effectively accelerates healing and strengthens immune functions.

Spinal Decompression

This therapy is an effective, non-invasive, non-surgical, pain-free, FDA-cleared alternative to back and neck surgery for patients. This procedure was developed to treat: disc herniation, bulging disc, degenerative disc disease, posterior facet syndrome, back or neck pain, numbness, tingling, and/or sciatica.

Cryotherapy

This is a minimally invasive treatment that utilizes an extremely cold liquid or instrument to freeze and destroy abnormal skin cells or diseased tissue that requires removal.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

This therapy uses safe low-voltage electrical current to relieve pain. Two electrodes are connected to the skin closest to the area of pain, creating a circuit of electrical impulses that travels along nerve fibers. For some people, TENS reduces pain. The electrical current can be set at different intensity levels, and for either a steady flow or for short bursts.

Therapeutic Exercise Facility

Therapeutic exercise is a valuable tool in addressing chronic problems, such as: degenerative joint disease, myofascial pain syndrome, and other conditions that respond well to prescribed, partially-monitored exercise programs. Our on-site gym includes: Nautilus equipment, a motorized treadmill, a stationary bike, and free weights.

We are a Preferred Provider for most health care plans.
