MESSAGE ONE: STAY AWAY FROM NSAIDS AND TAKE ACETAMINOPHEN INSTEAD

According to this recent article in MEDPAGE TODAY, the French Health Ministry is suggesting to stay away from NSAIDs, including aspirin, ibuprofen and others for treatment of fever, and take acetaminophen instead. These “experts” are baffled as they see no reason for this pronouncement. Apparently, these drugs have not shown to worsen outcomes in Covid-19 cases.
I’d like to chime in on this subject and share my thoughts.
NSAIDs have been proven to cause side effects, including GI bleeding and a three-fold increase in the risk of heart attacks. Unfortunately, 1,600 people in US die from these side effects annually.
I always tell patients to use acetaminophen for fever if any drug is necessary, and most of the time one does not need to treat fever at all. I’ve been saying this for many years. It has nothing to do with COVID-19. But when you apply the statistics using COVID-19 as an example, many more people will have a fever. This means that many more people will use drugs for fever, and therefore if many of these people use NSAIDs, we will see even more deaths that are the result of these side effects.
So this is my suggestion:
Do not treat fever with any drugs at all; we don’t recommend suppressing the fever. Only use something if you are really sick from it and can’t stand it. If you do have to use a drug to suppress fever, use acetaminophen (most commonly known as Tylenol). It is much safer.
MESSAGE TWO: Homeopathy works well for infectious diseases and we have the remedies on hand
Historically homeopathy has saved many lives in epidemics like cholera, diphtheria, influenza and others. Our homeopathic remedies can be prescribed during your Zoom visit/virtual appointment (see the article below for details on our telemedicine platform), and will be provided free of charge at a “no touch” area directly outside our clinic doors.
Our website http://www.FluSolution.net offers historical data about homeopathy along with research and detailed instructions on the use of homeopathic medications in influenza and flus/colds.
MESSAGE THREE: Zoom is a teleconferencing platform, an app that allows people to talk online using video, like skype, facetime, etc. It is not a system for remote management of infections.
If you have a respiratory infection, like the flu or a cold, please do not come to the clinic in person.
Dr. Mirman will see you during a “virtual appointment” on Zoom and recommend appropriate management. In most cases a physical exam is not necessary. In cases where an exam or a blood test is deemed necessary, you will be asked to come in to our clinic or to an urgent care center.

To schedule an in-clinic or Zoom appointment, please call 952-933-4900. If your call is routed to voicemail, please leave a message. Our schedulers will return your call promptly.
CAN YOU HELP US? We are asking our patients to call their legislators and contact the governor’s office (https://mn.gov/governor/contact/) and ask that the MN rules be changed to allow cannabis certification via “TELEMEDICINE”.
If we get our elected officials to change the rules in this way we can reduce our patients’ exposure to COVID-19.
